SCHOOLDOCTOR advises on Dyslexia, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Asperger's etc

Due to popular request SchoolDoctor now runs a Scottish Clinic
at Medicalternative advising on diagnosis and treatments.

I AM NOT TAKING NEW PATIENTS AT PRESENT

POOR SPELLING, poor short term memory?..... it might be DYSLEXIA
Slightly CLUMSY, poor organisation?..............it might be DYSPRAXIA
Slow, MESSY HANDWRITING?.......................it might be DYSGRAPHIA
Poor social interaction and likes routine?........it might be ASPERGER'S
POOR CONCENTRATION, fidgety?..................it might be ADD/ADHD

It is now recognised that these difficulties:
- Have a medical cause,
- Can co-exist,
- Have nothing to do with IQ or parenting,
- Can be helped

As a parent you know that your child is having a tough time / under performing at school
but the reason why can be hard to find and the help available poor.

I CAN HELP TO ASSESS THE DIFFICULTY AND CAN ADVISE INDEPENDANTLY ON TREATMENT OPTIONS.

Dr Frances Ross
I studied Medicine at The Royal Free Hospital, London University and qualified as a doctor in 1975 (LRCP.MRCS). I initially worked in General Practice spending some time in Canada. I stopped work when I had my three children returning to re-train in Community Paediatrics and now work part- time as a school doctor. Having two dyslexic children, I was particularly interested in and began to specialise in children's learning and behavioural difficulties. I worked for a time at the DDAT Centre in Scotland.
I have experience in Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD ( Attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity), Asperger's Syndrome, and similar difficulties. It is increasingly recognised that there is a medical basis for these disorders but it can be very difficult to find a doctor who works in this area. In the UK different conditions are dealt with by different specialists. It can be particularly hard to find a doctor with experience and interest in them all.

Many adults had a hard time at school and may continue to struggle afterwards. The problem may be one of these conditions that has never been diagnosed. It is never too late to get help.
